Every code meaning comes from the manufacturer's own support pages, owner's manuals or technical documents, and each page links to its source.
Where the manufacturer's page isn't available, we use faithful third-party reproductions of manufacturer manuals and service charts (for example Sears PartsDirect error-code charts or manual archives such as ManualsLib). These pages name the document and the site, e.g. “Source: Kenmore Calypso top-load washer error-code chart, via Sears PartsDirect”. We never use forums, Q&A sites or AI-written blogs as sources.
We never invent codes, meanings or part numbers. If a code can't be traced to an official document or a faithful copy of one, we don't publish it.
Steps that come from general repair practice rather than the manufacturer are labeled as such, and third-party sources are named.
Safety
Our owner steps are limited to power-off checks such as hoses, filters, settings and resets.
Gas, wiring, refrigerant and control-board work is always referred to a licensed technician.
Review
Pages carry a "last reviewed" date and are re-checked against their sources periodically.
